Retrofest being held the weekend of May 21 to 23 has received a designation as one of the top 100 Festivals and Events in Ontario for the second year ina row. Retrofest has continued to grow over the past eight years and presents Chatham Kent as the Classic Car Capitol of the world. Friday night will kick off with a Parade of Classic Cars from all over Canada and the US. The parade will wind it's way down one side of the river, over the Prairie Siding Bridge about 5 Miles outside of town, back to the city on the other side of the river and down King Street, the main street of town. Last year over 600 cars lined the parade route amid cheers from happy spectators. Saturday, King St. will be blocked off and lined with cars from one end of town to the other for visitors to view all the cars up close and enjoy lots of shopping and great food. For a full list of Retroevents, or to register your classic car visit the Retrfest website.

Enjoy Ribs? Make plans to attend the second annual Chatham Sunrise Rotary Ribfest which will run July 9-11 at the picturesque Tecumseh Park which is situated on the Thames River. Legendary Canadian rocker Kim Mitchell will be spicing things up for the crowds on July 10/10. Other entertainers over the three day event include That Whaling Band, Manpower, Superfly, Blutonium, Tom Lockwood, The Southest Blues Review, kid's Entertainer Eric Traplin and Darren Wright and the true Blue Hoodoo who will open for Mitchell. Last year more than 20,000 people attended Ribfest.

Plan to attend next year's Parade of Chefs. an annual fundraising event for our local hospital Chatham-Kent Health Alliance. This year's event raised more than $17,000 to support the purchase of equipment for the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance. This event is usually in the month of April and is a must for the gourmet palate.
